Valentines Day Card

I was surprised by my husband this morning. He usually leaves for work before I wake up, I went to get coffee and in front of the coffee pot was this card and a bottle of wine.

He had my friend, who is a stamping up rep, make the card for him and he wrote the poem on the inside.
32 Years
32 years since the day you were asked,
The words that made your respond "Are you serious?"
It meant a lot to me then and even more now,
32 years later all I can say is wow!
Some people said that we wouldn't last,
Now 32 years later, they're in the past.
I've loved you through good and loved you through bad
But 32 years later I remember the good times we've had.
They say love is blind but my heart is sincere,
As we start off this 32nd year.
I love you today way deep in my heart.
I still remember those words "Til death do us part."
With this wine I have given I offer a toast
To 32 more years with you as my host

My husband is still as romantic as he was 32 years ago, he still surprises me with candy, flowers and romance even when it's not valentines day. He actually proposed marriage to me 32 years ago on Valentines Day, and on our 25th valentines day, he asked me to renew our vows and gave me a ring, and told me he already had the church reserved for Aug. 6, which is our wedding anniversary. I think I'll keep him forever. Hope you have a great Valentines day.

This card is a fun card that adults or children would love for their birthday, I used the swirl embossing folder on the white background and matted all the items with dark green, used the same color ribbon and even though I added a pin with a dragonfly bead it still is mostly a masculine card. I have several of these made, fo different occasions to send to my male relatives and friends. The image and sentiment is from The Angel Company.

My Christmas cards and my thank you cards are the same design. I was so busy this fall and I've just gotten back into town from visiting my daughter in Cincinnati, Ohio. I was staying with her for a while after she had her first baby.

I used paper from Daisy D's and I used Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 8 for the green mat and used Memento ink to stamp the corner leaves and to sponge around the edge. I used Memento black for the Sentiment. I used stamps from The Angel Company. It's a very simple card, I hope you like the way it turned out.

Christmas Sweets

I know it's been a while, and I'm going to do better posting. I'm now a member of Card a Day Blog were several designers get together and post a card a day. I'm really hoping this will motivate me into getting back into card making and posting my creations on my blog. Anyway here is my card. The theme is Christmas Food and whenever I get invited to dinner or just to visit at someone's house I bring a gift, during Christmas it's usually a dessert.

For this card, I kept it simple, I paper pieced a pie, I just hand cut it out. I used a retired stamp from The Angel Company. The paper I used is Heidi Grace "Jolly and Bright.

People are really surprised whenever I show up with my treat for them, I think I get some invites back because they need a dessert :)

Yardsales

Every weekend I look forward to going to yardsales. I'm decorating my dining room/kitchen area in Tuscan style, so always on the lookout for cute grape stuff, I buy newborn boy clothes for my daugher whose expecting in December. My son has 2 children a girl and a boy that I buy stuff for. So here is my haul from this weekend.

Baby's first Christmas bunting and bib for $1.00
9 shirts, 5 pairs of pants, 2 pairs of boots, 3 dresses and a jacket for $4.00
2 nice pictures for my son's house $3.00
Washstand with a marble top that will look really nice once cleaned up $3.00. Not really a lot of stuff to find at yardsales this weekend, already looking forward to next week.

Pocket Peepers

Here is a card made from the new set "Pocket Peepers". I colored in the baby with prisma pencils, pop dotted him so it looks like he's looking over the border, and then used a thank you from "Thinking of You" retired set. I'm going to give this to my daugter at her baby shower so she can send out thank you's for gifts for the baby.

Another Bear

Today's bear is using a retiform technique, put down 3 sides of sticky notes and sponge color into the design I used a oval for one of the sides of sticky notes and then stamped a bear in the center of it. Here is the supply list

This week I'm concentrating on making items out of "Bountiful Bears" for a friend of mine that is having trouble using this stamp, I'm trying to do at least 3 projects for our stamp club. Here is the first one with instructions for making it

Another Sunflower

I wanted to participate in The Angel Company's Card a day in May, so I followed their sketch and made another sunflower card. I used a swatch of Emma paper and used the Sunshine Stamp set for the images, colored with colored pencil and blended with goo gone.

I got this Sunshine stamp set about a month ago, cut it apart and filed it, never once stamped it, so I got it out and decided to use it, I made about 7 cards, a couple were cased cards and these are 4 of mine.

This one I used the stamp as a background and made a tag out of one, very simple.

Used the same stamp and just decorated around it.

Inked the edges with burnt umber palette and used a Martha Stewart punch for the border

Used another border punch and my newest 2 1/4" scalloped punch 2" circle punch and dew drops.

The Angel Company just came out with a new list of stamps that are being discontinued. Wouldn't you know the 2 sets I just bought last month are in that list. I've made a card with 2 of those stamps, hope you like it. I used Emma Paper, coordinating bazzill and stamps from Delicate Florals and Swooping Sentiments.

Christmas Layout

Here is a very simple layout I did of Christmas 2009. I used paper from Hobby Lobby which already had Christmas dates on it, and I used a punch from Stampin Up to make my flowers, I inked the edges of them and used buttons as centers.

I'm so bad at this, I wait til the last minute to do anything, sometimes beyond that. Deborah I'm mailing your package out today, sorry :( I have a doctors appointment today, I'm supposed to go every 3 months, and it's been about 6 months, only reason I'm going,,I ran out of some of my medicine and need refils, is that sad? I have been working on some files and page kits (I teach at hobby lobby) and I want to do a beginner scrapbooking class. Have any of you done one? What should I include in this class, it will be all show and tell. I'll post some of my layouts I've been working on later.

I hope you all are having a great holiday season. My kitchen is at a stand still right now, we ran out of money. I had a few things I had to buy that we did not budget in, and a few things that cost more than we budgeted, so we are hoping to have the rest of the money saved by spring. We still need to buy 2 lazy susan carousels and 2 spice racks, all the handles for the cabinets and the wood for the china cabinet. 21st birthday

I finally finished the layout for my son's 21st birthday. I added the files to my Membership club, you get balloons, shot glass, cupcake scalloped edge (you have to look hard to see it, it's light green) and several words, Happy Birthday, Dinner, Bottoms up, 16th, 21st, 30th, 50th and Happy Birthday in a border. This month I was so busy, I had my brothers birthday on the 13th, mine on the 17th, my dil's on the 19th and my grandson's was the 21st, we are full of November babies. Membership sneak peak

Today is the first day of my membership club at Paperthreads, I'm so excited. I'm working on some files right now to post within a week, I just have to convert them over, here is a sample of two of the files.

I actually had a franic week, with my Klick-n-kut, my x and y settings doubled so everthing I was cutting was twice as big. I had to hold the buttons down to change the numbers, which took about 2 hours,,eek, but it was better than shipping the KNK back to the company to fix it for me, keep your fingers crossed the settings don't change again.

Cards for Soldiers

Just a reminder that I do collect cards for soldiers. A friend of mine and myself ship cards over to Iraq and Afghanistan to our soldiers that are serving our country away from home. They don't have a large selection of cards in their PX so we send cards to the Chaplain and he distributes them among the troops. We make celebration cards, birthday, congrats, and way to go, also holiday cards and just "A note to say Hi" cards, we also collect the fronts of cards, cardstock, envelopes and if you want cash to help us ship them to the soldiers. If you would like to donate handmade cards, send me an e-mail and I'll send you my shipping address.

Trace Creek

I'm going to Trace Creek again this weekend for a crop. I'm setting up as a vendor, hoping to get some roses cut out to sell. Have I mentioned how I love my klick-n-kut, now that I have one back?

Kitchen update: Purchased and installed a new ceiling fan, installed base cabinets so we are ready for the granite, which will be installed next tuesday. Sanded and painted the hall walls, sealed the grout in the hall. Slowly but surely coming along.

I'm a procrastinator

Yes, I admit it, I wait until the last minute for just about everything. My friends say I'm organized and on time, but they don't see what happens when they are not looking. I appear to be organized, and I arrive on time (panting and sweating). I've found if I have several things I need to do and I write a list, I find I'm more able to finish those chores if I see the satisfaction of marking off finished items. Today I need a list!

Kitchen is at a standstill, hubby is working 12 hour shifts for a week and a half, and he is dragging when he comes home, plus it gets dark soon after that and he can't see the cabinets to work on them.

Klick n kut is hooked up, but not working I have to call and get help to get it working. (one of those things on my list)

Tried a new recipe this week, it is really good, but only if you like leeks. It is called Pasta with brueshetta and leeks

I used bacon instead of bruechetta, and a different white wine than she suggested, but it did turn out awesome, everyone else in the house turned up their nose, but they don't like the onion flavor, I do, and it does have a onion flavor to it, milder, but still oniony. (is that a word?)

Back from vacation

Well I'm back safe and sound, we ended up in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, we went to Montpelier, which was James Madison's home, and we went to a couple of wineries, we mostly ate, we had good luck with the food.

My house is a mess!!!! I have boxes everywhere, I can see getting tired of this quickly, good thing I was gone all week. They are putting the floor down today and probably not finishing, hubby goes back to work tomorrow, so it will be even slower going.

Kitchen update

Well, my kitchen looks a mess right now, they have ripped off the walls, floors and cabinets, and have started putting up sheet rock. About 1/2 the ceiling is scraped. I'm going to the dump today, then I'm going to pack and leave for my trip. My KNK came and it's lonesome still in it's box. Hopefully I'll have time to hook it up next week.
I've made another card for a TAC swap I'm in, I hope they like it, I had to make 61 of these cards, so if your in this swap you get a sneak peak, I'm mailing them out today.

Here is the directions on how to make this card. Technique is Watercolor Stamping. Using Watercolor paper I inked the stamp "watercolor plants" (any solid stamp will work) with red and green ink, I used distress inks, but any water soluble ink or marker will work. Then I sprayed the stamp with water, stamped the center image, and the one on the right, then I sprayed water again and stamped the one on the right, let dry. I used Versamark and a stamp from "Happily Grateful" for the background, sentiment is from "Happily Grateful" using Palette Ink Burnt Umber, then I inked the card and around the watercolor paper with burnt umber and a sponge.

My new KNK

I got word that it's being delivered by Fed Ex TODAY, how excited am I. Course it couldn't have come at a busier time, I'm demo'ing my kitchen/dining room/hall this week, and next week my husband is putting in tile floors, sheet rock, (we have paneling now that is coming down) painting the walls and ceiling (we have popcorn now we are scraping that off) installing new cabinets (he's building them now), and I'll be on vacation with a friend of mine in Virginia. My brother is coming to help him do the new work, I've been emptying cabinets, china cabinet and taking stuff off walls all this week. He's hoping to have the walls done, tile laid and some of the base cabinets done by the time I get back. I'm doing the kitchen tuscan style since my husband dabbles in making wine. The wood is a very dark brown on my new kitchen table and we are making the cabinets to match, my walls will be pale yellow with hints of white to look like stucco, the countertop is black,brown,beige granite, the floor is a light cream with some darker brown in it. If you've read this long, we are giving my china cabinet to my son (husband is making another to match my cabinets) and the kitchen table is being given to someone who needs one. If anyone is interested I'll post pictures of before and after.
I won't be posting next week, since I'll be in virginia with my friend, have a great week.

New Card

It was pointed out to me that I haven't posted in a while, and I'm sorry for that, I'm working on swaps right now, here is one card for a swap I'm doing, it looks too simple to me for some reason, but it did take a while to make. I used watercolor paper, stamped the blossom with versamark and embossed it in gold. Then watercolored it with my waterbrush. I used the Blossoms and Blessings stamp set from TAC and I used the leaves from Happily Grateful for the background. Let me know what you think, or if I need to add anything.

On converting SVG's and new files, I took a break and created several new files, but since I can't cut them out, I can't convert them or upload them, so I'm waiting til the Klicknkut gets sent to me, I hope it's not long I've been without it for almost 3 months not, I'm going nuts, I have so much I want to cut out. I'm afraid I'll burn it up the first week with as much as I'm going to be using it. I have mostly all my files converted to all files except for a few overlays and the state overlays, I feel the end coming, I'll post in a couple of more days which ones I have finished and ready to purchase.

I've ordered my new Klick-n-kut, and my pazzles went out too, so I had to order another pazzles software, when it rains it pours, now I'm looking for the rainbow. I got to babysit my sweet Zoie today, she so warm and cuddly and makes such sweet kitten like sounds. I found my rainbow :) Life is good, will try to post more next week. I've decided to work on getting all my files converted over to SVG, I havent' finished them all yet, so I have my work cut out for me.

I'm in love with this vintage Santa set, as you can see I made several different cards all with that set. I even made a card box, below are the supplies I used, if you want to order anything I'm offering a free catalog with a $50 order, plus a free stamp just e-mail me at Akadi14@aol.com
I used a pattern from splitcoaststampers for the box, I inked the impessibilities snowflake and then embossed it for the top snowflakes, this box holds several cards and envelopes.

I used the top of the "free stamp" clamshell box to make this, you can use it as a to/from tag, as a tree ornament, or anything you want.

My KNK bit the dust

Well it's official, My KNK needs to be replaced. I did every test I could and even tried to cut with it from my laptop, my husband asked if he could fiddle with it, bless his heart, but it's dead, so now I have to save up for a new one, my husband has some dental work that needs to be done and that comes first, he's already working overtime for that. I'm seriously considering trying to find a job outside the home, I'm going to miss designing files, but I have no way of testing them, so I'll probably concentrate on my stamping and personal scrapbooking. I'll try to kepe up with my blog better, but without designing files, my mojo has been seriously depleted.

Paper for flowers

Here are some roses made by some of my readers, aren't they simply gorgeous? I'm leaving the free file and tutorial up through today due to begging and pleading, and I'm just a nice person too :). I'm hooked on these flowers, I'll have to make more soon. Well I made some yesterday for Paper Temptress out of her papers, look at how beautiful they turned out, no inks, sprays or anything, just her gorgeous papers. I did use all 4 of the paper roses in my Roses-n-more files so you can see the difference, I also used the leaf in my file.

50th anniversary layout with roses

Here is the layout that I've done with the paper roses, if you look carefully you can see the words "I still love you" in the top left and bottom right corner of the photo, I used the daisies, roses, butterflies and 2 mats from my files, I also have a total of 4 rose petals,2 daisies, a mum and leaf in that collection, with a PDF of how to make a basic paper rose with a 6 petal flower. I already have them uploaded to paperthreads HERE , still planning on posting instructions and a free file on Friday.

Paper Roses

I've been surfing the web and seeing all the beautiful flowers that can be made out of paper, the layouts that use these flowers are just stunning. I really love Tim Holtz, I'm not quite as distressed as he is, but I'm a wanna be. I took a little of what Tim Holtz taught and a little of what the other blogs and video tutorials taught and created my own way. I actually taught this in a class at the crop this past weekend, and look what I made?

I'm really going to try to work hard, and get the tutorial written up and get the files made, I have several types of roses that I made and try to have it all ready by friday. I may even give out a free file of one of the roses, are you excited yet?? I'm also going to give away the whole file collection that I'm making it includes 4 types of rose petals, a large mat, 2 smaller mats and daisies, mums, leaves and of course the instructions for putting the roses together. Eggstra Fun Layout

March Sketch

So anyway, here is the sketch and the layout I did from the sketch for this month, I'm a little behind on my books, so I'm submitting a Halloween page for your approval.

Thoughts and info

My life is getting busier and I'm still not getting done what I want, so I've decided to cut back on my free file every week. I'll do at least one a month, maybe more, but not one each week again. I hope you'll still visit me anyway. I'm doing a monthly challenge on paperthreads and I'm thinking about cutting back to one every 2 months, maybe one of the other paperthreads designers will take the opposite month. I'm behind on everything, I wanted to put my Spring Collection on sale this month, and I've not even done that, but check back I'll get it on sale sometime this week.
I had a great time this past weekend, I got 8 pages done, and several sketched out in my sketch book, I also got a bunch of cards for soliers done, and started planning my Baby birth announcements for my new grandchild which is due around June. I'll post some pictures of my finished pages this week.

Yesterday I went to Trace Creek Baptist Church for their Bi-Annual Crop, I love going there. I was a vendor and had make-n-takes which all were easter baskets, I'll try to post all these tomorrow. Someone saw me making cards for Soldiers and said that I should do that card as a make-n-take, so I agreed, here is the cards that I used for make-n-takes.

I had a little bit of time at the end of the day so I worked on more Cards for Soldiers, Here is a little about that project, my friend Elaine and I make and collect cards and if we just get card fronts we put them on white cardstock, pair them with a envelope and mail a large box at a time to a Chaplain of a troop that is stationed in Iraq or Afghanistan. Since we live close to Ft Campbell we personally know a lot of men and women that get stationed there, so we have no shortage of troops to send them too. Elaine and I supply a lot of envelopes, cardstock and basically all the supplies that go into make the cards and we pay to mail them, not that we mind, we do what we can, but donations are always appreciated, we love most card fronts, you know from the discontinued stamps samples you have in your books if your a demonstrator for a stamp company, we also love invitation sized envelopes, white and ivory cardstock and of course monetary donations. If you'd like to make some cards and send them or donate anything else I've listed, please e-mail me for my home address, I'd love to get something from you in the mail, and believe me the soldiers really love the cards to send back to their loved ones, One rule, no glitter, but you can make them a little lumpy/3-D. Anyway here is the other I card I designed and made this weekend, the front and the inside. It's hard to tell, but I popdotted the cup and the saying.

Easter Cards

This set of cards uses the chick from Hoppity Skippity stamp set.

I used this card for a swap I was in, I used the score-pal to make scorelines, stampin up border punch, Gold Galaxy ink, Playful Parentisis stamped in gold ink.

I don't like this one as well, I used a corner punch to punch the square then sheer white ribbon.
I colored both chicks with prismacolor pencils and goo gone.

You can't tell, but I used orange bazzill bling paper to make this one, it's beautiful IRL.

I used a hat pin on this one, it can be used for a male or female.

I left the sentiment off this one, will add it whenever I decide what to use it for.

Card I made last year

I was organizing (seems like this is an ongoing thing) and came across some cards I made last year so I thought I'd share them here. I'll post a few more this week, so keep checking back.

This card used a cupcake from the little cupcake set, and layers of black red and white. I put red stickles on the cherry.

I wanted a brown and pink card so I used the little cupcake set again, colored with prisma pencils and goo gone, I love the way the colors come together.

I missed the blog hop last night, my internet was down and it was so frustrating. Here is my project since I did have it ready, just wasn't able to post it.

The candies in the box are hersey's nuggest stamped with the Build a Background hostess stamps. The box is stamped with I Heart You stamps. I did stipple the white with red ink and then just glued it all together. The teddy is from Hugs and Kisses set. I've uploaded the pattern for the box and lid on the right you'll get .pdf files of the pattern for those that don't have cutters, and then of course all the cutter files.

I'm having my weekly crop tomorrow and I decided to make some nugget boxes. I have all the supplies ready for my friends to make some. I had a ball with all the different designs. All the stamps are from The Angel Company, I Heart You, Hugs and Kisses.

I'm working on the free file right now, it's a snowflake lace border, which I though was appropriate with the weather we are having right now. My kids are griping and say they are ready for spring. I told them without the cold, spring wouldn't be as great. I'll have it up probably tomorrow, but for sure by Wed.

I've uploaded several files at Paperthreads and I wanted to show you some of them. The first is very fitting since we got our 2nd snow of the year today (Tennessee) It's a collection I had available only in GSD, but is now available in all files types, AI, WPC, KNK, GSD and SVG. Winter Collection

Next I have Winter Holidays, this was a club CD so it's never been released until now, it includes all the winter holidays, Christmas, New Years, Valentines, Presidents Day, Hanakkah and even a couple for Kwanza. It is available in all file types. Winter Holidays

Paper Flowers is a collection I've been working on for several months on and off. It includes over 30 flowers and leaves that you can use so many different ways, here is a sampling of the flowers that Caz did for me.Paper Flowers

Here is the last photo, I just love this collection, my daughter and I went to the midnight showing of New Moon, so I had to do a layout of it and all the posters that were my fav's, the files include the title, mats, corners and borders that all have the Old World feel of the New Moon movie.New Moon
